POSITION TITLE: Special Education Teacher, OHS
REPORTS TO: Building Principal, Director of Special Programs
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in special education or related field
- Valid teaching certificate with special education endorsement
- Certified in either Strat II LD/BD or Strat II ID
- Knowledge of special education laws and regulations
- Experience developing and implementing IEPs
- Ability to use specialized instructional techniques
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience and compassion for students with disabilities
- Ability to collaborate effectively with other educators and support staff
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities
- Assess students' needs, strengths, and challenges
- Use specialized instructional techniques to meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities
- Collaborate with other educators and support staff to develop and implement learning strategies and accommodations
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, modifying instruction as needed
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations related to special education
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about student progress
